I want to thank you too for your response, at first I was afraid that artists will find me arrogant and feel that there was nothing in my gallery that could inspire them.


Also: on the top of my journal page egil21.deviantart.com/journal/ has been posted a donation box: some deviants contacted me to offer some points to the winners - as I have a nice 1st and 2nd place (or so I think ) prize, I thought I could use those points to share among a 3rd place winner on Digital and on Traditional: that way all the givers' names and points will be visible and if you want to give any amount you just have to click on "donate" without noting me or anything.
Just one thing: I'm NOT asking for points! I have my prizes to give, I don't need points!
This is just if you want to participate, it's easier than contacting me and say "I have 5, 10, 15 points to the winners!" and maybe we can give a 3rd prize. If the amount is very small to have a 3rd prize when the contest reaches its end, then the points will be divided among the 4 winners equally (1st Digital, 1st Traditional, 2nd Digital and 2nd Traditional).

Yesterday I was going through my inbox (I have to apologize, I haven't seen all, but I will - I'm sorry not to comment but when I I really like the piece   ) and I saw this amazing work:



It's a drawing by Paula, pbird12, she's a friend and a talented artist and she was inspired by 3 works from Emily ThruEmilysEyesPhotos :

Previously, two artists were inspired by my work:

Ross Ross-Sanger (I love his colourful and humorous work) gave me as a birthday gift this awesome me "dragonized":

SO, I WAS WONDERING...could my work inspire traditional and digital artists?

Would you take the time to go around my gallery and be inspired by something there? It could be anything:

Perhaps a flower, a butterfly...



...or a monument, an animal...

GENERAL RULES

"Will you draw my photo?" Cool Summer Contest



This will be the contest journal, all additions in prizes will be posted here. There is also a news article news.deviantart.com/article/15… you may consult;

All Traditional and Digital work is allowed - you can draw, paint, sculpt, whatever you want, you just have to mention on your artist's comments which work/ works has/have inspired you;

The contest starts on the 21st July and goes until the 7th October; I'll be announcing the winners on the 14th October;

You are allowed to use any work on my gallery egil21.deviantart.com/gallery but use it properly: I won't accept violence or pornography, all works will be viewed by me and if I don't like a work, because it disturbs me in any way, it will not be accepted - I'll tell you why I don't accept the work, if that's the case;

Send me a note with the thumb or link to your work - if you don't know how to do this, don't worry, just talk to me, we'll manage! ;

I'll fave the works into 2 folders:

and

I'm the only judge;

The prizes are:
for the first place of the 2 categories -  a 1 year's subscription to dA or the correspondents points;
for the second place of the 2 categories -  a  6 months' subscription to dA or the correspondents points;

Naturally, the winners and the works I like the most will be featured.
As usual, anyone who is willing to help me featuring the winners just let me know, I'll add your name on this journal (see below).

I appreciate all the help promoting the contest too.

FAQs


How many entries am I allowed to submit?
As many as you want - I want to inspire you, I couldn't have a limit for entries.


You say "If I don't like a work, because it disturbs me in any way, it will not be accepted"
Disturbing you, in which way? I mean, which emotions disturb you, or you consider disturbing?
The "disturbing part" is related to any kind of violence or pornography, anything else is acceptable - I'm not easily disturbed but I what to keep this contest familiar, meaning for all ages.


Which themes are accepted?
All themes are acceptable, your artistic production shouldn't be limited: again, my work should inspire you without any limits (the only restriction is: no use of violence or pornography).


Though violence is forbidden, is blood also forbidden? Not too much blood, obviously, for example a tear, a little cut, etc.
If you want to use cuts and blood very badly, what can I do about it? Probably it will be accepted to the contest, most probably that piece won't win
So, blood is not forbidden, tears and cuts are not forbidden, but if you want to know a little about me I can say I appreciate colourful works, happy feelings and good humour.


Does the entry need to be just like the photo or only an element or other that resembles it?
You can use my work without restrictions. You can use a part, the whole photo, more than one photo...
My objective is to inspire, not to have exact copies of a particular work.


Can I see more -  self portraits, please?
No, sorry, I won't post any self portraits.
I'm not a good subject for artistic purposes


Since you used the word "inspired" it doesn't have to be exactly as the photo? I mean, if I feel like changing something it's ok, right?
Right! As said before, my objective is to inspire, not to have exact copies of a particular work.


How much percent of the inspiring work must be in the new work?
The work is yours   tell me on your artist's comments how much my work inspired you!!!


Can I donate a prize and still enter the contest?
Of course!

Where did the THUMBS go? DA, have you lost the thumbs???
Don't panic! They are where they used to, but not visible.
On your deviation page take a look to your right: you'll find there the sharing symbols for note, Twitter, Facebook, etc. and a arrow for a drop menu: click it, all the links are there.
Personally I don't know why the hell they should be concealed but...it's just one more drop menu.
