I thought this was a traditional art medium at first, because of how incredibly difficult it is to photograph a butterfly so perfectly. The lighting on this is gorgeous, nicely capturing the vivid contrast of the butterfly's wings, as well as the colorful background of the flowers. To see even more Monarchs in the background truly make this piece stunning.

As far as critique, the only thing I can really think of is the composition - the subject being dead-center *does* work for this particular photo, but I was wondering what the piece would look like if the angle was moved slightly to the left. It's hard to tell because it's all hypothetical, but I think this piece could have been just that much more interesting if the other two butterflies were better captured and the main subject was slightly off-center. Considering these are butterflies being shot, however, there isn't much opportunity to take such things into consideration, and the composition of this photo is still fantastic.

The vivid colors and the stunning capture of this Monarch butterfly (ft. friends) is quite an eye-catcher. The fact that yellow, orange, green, and even blue were captured so brilliantly in this photo proves the artist's skill. It is rare to capture a butterfly in nature so precisely, and because of that, this photo is nothing short of remarkable. It is because of photography as well done as this that I am able to be in full awe by the beauty of nature.
